CIA chief in Delhi, to meet Indian security officials!

CIA chief Leon Panetta flew in New Delhi on Wednesday night to hold talks with top intelligence officials of the country on security cooperation, a fortnight after FBI director Robert Mueller visited here. Panetta, who chose India as his first overseas visit since assuming office, arrived here along with Peter Burleigh, a retired career diplomat, as "interim ambassador" to India who will be charge d' affairs until the Obama administration finalises its nominee for the post.

Panetta, during his stay, will meet national security advisor M K Narayanan, RAW chief K C Verma and Intelligence Bureau's Rajiv Mathur and discuss the security situation in the neighbourhood -- Pakistan and Afghanistan. He is likely to leave for Pakistan on Friday afternoon. Burleigh, who will assume as the charge d' affairs, is believed to be fluent in Hindi, Bengali, Nepali and Sinhalese. He was ambassador to Sri Lanka in the mid-1990s and US deputy permanent representative at the United Nations from 1997-1999

I convinced my Old journalist friends today that the Left front has every OPPORTUNITY to rectify the HISTORICAL BLUNDER if Left Front emerges as a POWER to represent the Brahaminical Ruling Hegemony and no doubt, Gestapo head and GENOCIDE MASTER Basu would be the best BLOCK to stop Dalit Queen Ms Mayawati

Just imagine ! HOW FALSE Happens to be THE FALSE RECESSION to ensure MAXIMUM BENEFITS and SAFEGUARDS, WAIVING and BAILOUT, EXEMPTIONS and FDI for India INCs killing the CONSTITUTION and PARLIAMENT as the NATION is in LABOR ROOM to DELIVER a new BREED of LOKSABHA MEMBERS!

Side by side the CRICKET CIRCUS named IPL season TWO has to go on as the GREATEST REALITY SHOW on this EARTH as INDIA is stated to be officially in RECESSION!

decision by India's markets watchdog to tighten the disclosure norms for the promoters of listed companies after the Rs.73-billion ($1.5-billion) Satyam Computer Services scam appears to have made an impact. Promoters of as many as 440 companies have disclosed over the past two months that they had pledged shares worth a whopping Rs.50,474 crore (Rs.504.74 billion, or over $10 billion), says a new study. Promoters of blue-chip companies belonging to groups such as the Tatas, Suzlon, Ispat and Jaiprakash pledged their shares with lenders after the new norms of the Securities and Exchange Board of India came into effect in January, says the study by leading brokerage SMC Capital.

In a sign that also indicates how hard it has been to find cash for new projects, four Tata group firms pledged their shares, with Tata Teleservices Maharashtra placing as much as 49.7 percent of its equity, as per the study made available to the news agency.

How well the DESI ILLUMINITI in SHINING INDIA minus BPL and SLUM DOGS shape so well!

Reliance Industries Ltd is looking at selling petrol and diesel from its twin refineries at Jamnagar in Gujarat directly to the United States of America, the world's largest fuel consumer.

"We are in discussions with certain parties in US," said P M S Prasad, head of the company's oil and gas business. "We believe the highest value addition to every molecule is through direct sales and yes we are keen on doing that in US

RIL is talking to consumers of gasoline (petrol) as well as US fuel marketers who currently have a deficit, he said but did not give details. The company recently started gasoline trading operations in the US. Its office located in Houston would trade in gasoline both on the US Gulf Coast and New York Harbor market.

Bush's reliance on Pakistan (which had previously faced sanctions for its nuclear ambitions) to fight the Taliban in the tribal areas proved even more catastrophic, writes Sanger, who declares it "one of the biggest misjudgments of the war on terror."

Talibans were NEVER DEFEATED nor they might be DEFEATED.

Muslim Psyche in SOUTH ASIAN GEOPOLITICS may be defined around this theme.

Challenges of AMERICAN POWER as well as AMERICANISM have created this TROUBLED GALAXY facing the CLASH OF CIVILISATION rhetorically named as War Against Terror.

We Indians are often mistaken to assess SITUATION in Pakistan with our age old theory of TWO Nations!

The Crisis in Pakistan is not centred around HATE INDIA as it is highlighted by toilet media. Pakistan STAND OFF originated from the fact that it became the STRATEGIC WAR Zone since the COLD WAR days which from the TALIBANS EMERGED as the LEGITIMATE OFFSPRING of AMERICANISM!

President BUSH was wrong to focus on AL QUEDA and OSAMA BIN LADEN as he attacked IRAQ and destroyed the NATION, Nationality and the Leader. It further strengthened the TALIBAN HOLD all over SOUTH ASIA

Islam as well as MUSLIMS in the divided Geopolitics faced the UNPRECEDENTED Trauma of DUAL Challenges, US Imperialism with all its STRIKE POWER as well as FASCISM Undefeated within under neo Global TRI IBLIS ORDER of Monopolistic white AMERICANISM, Zionism with MASS destruction agenda and the RSS dominated HINDUTVA committed to ETHNIC CLEANSING of ABORIGINAL INDIGENOUS and Minority people!

Since the WAR ZONE is shifted right into our heart, not only MUSLIMS but every part of the combined Majority Indigenous ABORIGINAL Population share the same DESTINY.

Present day Pakistan is a CLASSIC CASE study of the CRISIS in a WAR ZONE and the Challenges confronted by DEMOCRACY all over in SOUTH ASIA!

India will begin voting in five phases from April 16, conducting the biggest electoral exercise in the world. At least 71.4 crore citizens out of the country's 112 crore population are eligble to vote in the general elections.

I reached Koraput on an Evening fully ILLUMINATED by Aluminium Plant and MIG factory lighting around the beautiful Hills.

My friends were there to receive me and they drove me in SONABEDA which had been a TRANSIT camp not very long ago. A Faridpur Origin Bengali family with a KHULNA district housewife hosted us as we had to relax for some hours to get the HI TECH Night Bus for Malkangiri.

We started for Malkangiri in a HI Tech Bus around 4.00 AM from koraput Bus Stand. We had just crossed a PETROL Pump as the BUS was gheraoed in a MUSLIM AREA!

It was 10th March 2009. our Muslim brothers were celebrating the Birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad SAHIB. They have decorated the area with banners.

The Bus running in speed had torn some of the banners.

The Muslim youths were quite agitated and the elders and women were standing by. But they were never VIOLENT.

They were just demanding some RESPECT and CARE.

The ORIA Crew understood the problem very well. They agreed to go slow and the Muslim youth escorted the Bus with ladders so that the Banners might be hoisted if necessary.

The Problem which could have turned quite COMMUNAL anywhere in India was resolved with SENSE.

It was a minor incident. But it touched my heart very deep!

Why don`t we understand the Muslim Psyche?

Why don`t we understand the Minority Psyche?

Under fire from BJP and others for his reported anti-Muslim speeches, an unapologetic Varun Gandhi on Wednesday asserted he was proud of being a Hindu and an Indian and claimed he had not made any communal statement. Giving no signs of tendering an apology sought by his party, Varun, the 29-year-old BJP Lok Sabha candidate from Pilibhit, said the video footage of his speeches was ‘doctored’ and saw a ‘political conspiracy’ hatched to malign him.

Whenever we talk about Islam, Muslims or Pakistan , we always happen to be BIASED! The MANUSMRITI Rule has Poisoned our heart and we never feel the WARMTH of the HEARTS of our own people performing different rituals as religious individuals!

Even as India continues to press Pakistan to act against those behind Mumbai attacks, intelligence agencies have warned of a ‘heightened’ threat from across the border to some political leaders during the Lok Sabha elections.

Top government sources said intelligence agencies have intercepted cross-border ‘chatters’ between terrorists who speak about intentions to target some political leaders during the elections

There has been a marked increase in talk among the terrorists about attempts to disrupt the election process, they said.

The intercepts suggest that terrorists want to target some politicians during elections as it could result in lot of media attention, the sources said but did not identify the leaders facing the terror threat.

The development indicates that Pakistan-based terrorists continue to be maintaining audacity of planning fresh strikes even as India is building pressure on Islamabad to act against such forces in the aftermath of the Mumbai attacks.

For me it was a very significant INCIDENT as in ORISSA the BJD BJP tie was broken and BJP withdrew support from NAVEEN PATNAIK Govt. Patnaik had to prove Majority in the ASSEMBLY next day. As ORIA Population consists of no less than TWENTY SIX percent Tribal people , the KANDHMAL Anti CHRISTIAN Riots had changed the priorities for Naveen Patnaik.

Simply, Navven Patnaik was to win the TRIBAL HEART and MIND and he decided to DUMP RSS and BJP. On December 26th, a Cabinet minister, I won`t name him, told me in CUTTAK that the days are NUMBERED for the BJP BJD Alliance as KANDHMAL has decided the fate. The MINISTER is powerful and close to Naveen Patnaik and I knew whatever happened later.

In KORAPUT, I saw the anxiety of the MUSLIMS

Later, in Malkangiri and in NAVRANGPUR, I felt the INSECURITY Phobia in Dalit Resettled Bengali refugees as well!

Muslim VOTE BANK is BIGGER than the fractured REFUGEE Vote Bank in Orissa

I had witnessed NON POLITICAL SOCIAL Mobilisation of the Muslims in Orissa right in koraput. Our people may not mobilise themselves in the same manner as the tribal people or the Muslims would.

But the Minority psyche is quite same everywhere in South Asia, though I have never crossed Indian borders, but I may feel the hearts of our Enslaved SUFFERING and DYING People scattered all over across the artificial Political borders!

When I left HOME, my WIFE SABITA was in ACUTE PAIN due to BERTHOLENE Gland and doctors had advised immediate surgical Operation. But we decided aginst canscelling the DANDAKARANYA VISIT as it was MORE Important for us to bear the FAMILY LEGACY of COMMITMENT and STRUGGLE than Personal suffering. While I was in Malkangiri, the Doctors tried to convince Savita to get ADMITTED in a NURSING HOME Immediately. She refused and rang me to continue the tour.

Returning home, we had to reschedule the date of the Pending SURGERY.

MY FILM DIRECTOR Friend called Savita meanwhile and advised to consult the DOCTORS in BELUR SHRAMJIVI Hospital. We knew the doctors and the hospital.

The Hospitol is runm and managed by the WORKERS of a Locked OUT factory INDO JAPAN STEEL plant in belure since 1983. It has also opened a CARDIAC Unit where HEART SURGERY is done for only RS TWENTY FIVE thousand.

The patients have not to pay in advance and the medicines are not so costly.

The Hospital is joined and managed by some Very COMMITTED DOCTORS in Bengal.

The Intelligentsia and the Civil society support the hospital.

The Workers mobilise the resources as the HOSPITAL Refuses DUBIOUS DONATIONS.

We, me and SAVITA, have joined SHRAMJIVI fair arranged by the workers and we also shared the FAMILY GET TOGETHER.

Thus, we visited the Hospital on Tuesday and CONSULTED the DOCTOR.

AMUSINGLY, the DOCTOR advised against any Surgical Operation for the time being and insisted on medical supervision. He DIAGNOSED the ailment as DIABETIC FUNGUS INFECTION Internal which may be CURED by MEDICINES!

Because we were looking for MONEY for the EMERGENCY SURGERY, you may simply understand the RELIEF we experienced. Though, the OPERATION might be inevitable but it is not an EMERGENCY.

We may reschedule it with proper medical Supervision and Investigation! Meanwhile, we get the time to arrange the MONEY.

The HOOLIGANS, pets of the Local MEDICAL Mafia have attacked the Hospital several times!

We crossed the RIVER HUGLI on Boat and landed in RG KAR Hospital near KOLKATA RLY junction on 3 AM around where we had to see CHAMPA, the daughter of JAYANTI, our ex Domestic help. She delivered a baby recently and undergone CEASURE IN Surgery.

ENTIRE BPL population of the METRO and the adjoining districts depend on RG KAR as PATIENTS are reffed there. Even the DISTRICT Hospitals have not the Maternity Surgical UNIT in Bengal.

just FORGET other things!

The MEDICAL SERVICE is PRIVATISED. you may get any type of TREATMENT anywhere in BENGAL if you have the PURCHASING Power.

I was STUNNED to find the STRANDED suffering BPL Population consisted of more than NINETY PERCENT MUSLIMS only it included the SLUM DOGS also!

SAVITA often visit the Hospitals attending the PATIENTS in neighbourhood. She had told me that you may find NINETY PERCENT MUSLIMS depending on GOVT Hospitals only as they may not afford PRIVATE TREATMENT at any level.

Savita was TIRED as she is not well. But she went upstairs in the WARDS and even talked to the DOCTORS.

I am somewhat IMPULSIVE in such situations.

EARLIER I had QUARRELS in Hospitals as I complained of the MISMANAGEMENT often. Nothing changes, but the Patients have to suffer as the Medical STAFF dare not to touch me.

Thus, nowadays, I refrain to go inside in any GOVT. Hospital unless an EMERGENCY EMERGES.

I waited in the PREMISES with a SEA OF PEPLE sitting over all kinds of DIRT and drains.

It was SMELLING strong.

I talked to the people belonging to the METRO itself, the SUBURBANS and the DISTRICTS as far as MURSHIDABAD

The BPL MUSLIMs as well as the SLUM MUSLIM, most of them very poor Workers may not pronounce their names or origin as they feel so INSECURE.

As individuals they stand nowhere.

Only Religion mobilises them.

A worker from KASHIPUR, originally belonging to DHAKA and having realtions in Bhangar as his daughter was married there, was stranded with his kith in kin. His second daughter has got a baby.

He told me, `CHACHA! Idare not top Compalin. I have no face. I have my hands with which I have to earn daily bread for my family. I have the VOTE and I have to CAST the VOTE some One or the Othre! It does not change my destiny!’

The man and the family do not recognise any political party or leader.

I talked to a young Muslim housewife belonging to a PEASANT parents and married to a worker. She invited me to visit her home in BAMUNGACHHI. In her early twenties , she has two sons. Because she has studied in class NINE before she got married., she did not send her son to any MADRASA and sent him to a govt school. She was waiting for some good news as her HUSBAND`s NIECE was referred to the HOSPITOL from BARASAT DISTRICT HOSPITAL for getting a BABY.

I shared the ANXIOUS suffering movement with my people in RG KAR PREMISES and stayed there until 7 PM by the time SAVITA returned from the wards.

Meanwhile, We SHARED the GRIEF and SUFFERING, PAIN and HELPLESSNESS around.

If in SHINING INDIA, the MUSLIMS generally have no IDENTITY other than RELIGIOUS., THEY may not mobilise them either Socially or Politically, WHY do we BLAME PAKISTAN and BANGLADESH for TALIBALISATION?

The DIABETIC FUNGUS is working within the MAJORITY as well as MINORITY PSYCHE and we may not DIOGNISE the DISEASE as the EXPERT DOCTORS would always EXECUTE EMERGENCY SURGERY without our CONSENT.

It is TRUE for PAKISTAN as well as INDIA. It is true for the GEOPOLITICS!

BUT we never believe nor RECOGNISE our FAMILY links but depend on FOES who trade HATRED, Misinformation, CIVIL WAR AN WAR. MAY it be the Mighty United states of America or some Local political party, may it be the BRAHAMINICAL Hegemony in India or the MILITARY Hegemonies elsewhere!

We BLAME and DEFAME PAKISTAN or BANGLADESH for the MURDER OF DEMOCRACY, CONSTITUTION, FREEDOM, SOVEREIGNTY, CIVIL RIGHTS and HUMAN RIGHTS. We blame others for ETHNIC CLEANSING and MASSACRES.

While, we feel so COSY in KILLING FIELDS around us and breathe so easy living in GENOCIDE CULTURE.

What kind of democracy have WE THE INDIGENOUS, ABORIGINAL People?

In the run up to the Lok Sabha elections, Congress and the BJP are both suffering from a common ailment - losing trusted and tested allies. While Lalu Prasad's RJD has given a jolt to Congress by allocating it only three seats in Bihar, Navin Patnaik's BJD has literally dumped BJP in Orissa and has virtually joined the fledgling Third Front.

With the Lok Sabha elections being likened to a "bowlers wicket" where no side can pile up a sizable score, the allies of both the Congress and BJP are fighting to "hog the bowling" by trying to grab as much political space as they can.

Since these allies are strong regional parties, they are wanting and ensuring that in their areas of influence, it is only their writ which runs and not that of the national parties.

In the key state of Uttar Pradesh, the UPA is as good as non-existent. The Congress's attempt to stitch up an alliance with the Samajwadi Party has floundered in the state, which with 80 seats, sends the largest number of members to the Lok Sabha.

During the elections, vulnerability of politicians relatively gets enhanced as they have to go out for campaigning among masses, which compromises with their security many a time.

The government is leaving no stone unturned and has drawn up plans to deploy 40 lakh civilian officials and 21 lakh security personnel for the smooth conduct of elections.

Personnel of central police forces, state police forces, home guards and Railway Protection Force would be mobilised to guard the more than 8.28 lakh polling stations spread throughout the country.

Former PCB Chairman Lt General (retd) Tauqir Zia on Wednesday hurled veiled allegations on India for influencing Bangladesh to cancel their home series against Pakistan. "I can't say for certain if someone has influenced them but yes there is no doubt that India has been working on a policy of undermining and isolating Pakistan since the Mumbai attacks," he told 'Geo Super' channel. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) informed their Pakistan counterparts on Wednesday that they could not host the Pakistan team because of security issues in their country and as their government had not given clearance for the series of five one-dayers and two Twenty20 matches.

Meanwhile, EC issues notices to Varun Gandhi, BJP! The Election Commission on Wednesday suspended two senior officials of Pilbhit district of Uttar Pradesh and transferred two others on the charge of failing to act against BJP Lok Sabha candidate Varun Gandhi for his alleged inflammatory speech. While the Additional District Magistrate and Additional SP were suspended the DM and SP have been shifted and would not be given any election-related work, Additional Chief Election Officer Amrit Abhijat said.

Britain consults Hindu, Muslim groups on poverty !

India's response to Pak's 30 questions seeking more inputs on Mumbai attacks does not meet its requirements, a ministry official said, according to a media report. The Pakistani Taliban in the restive Swat valley today demanded the release of 210 militant prisoners immediately as part of a peace deal signed with authorities in the North West Frontier Province.

The safe sanctuaries of the militants in the tribal areas of Pakistan must be eliminated to achieve stability and security in the region, a top US military officer based in Afghanistan has said. The safe sanctuaries of the militants in the tribal areas of Pakistan must be eliminated to achieve stability and security in the region, a top US military officer based in Afghanistan has said.

The US and UK have clearly told the PPP-led Pakistani government and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif that future military and financial aid to Pakistan will depend on political stability of the nation.

Shaky Pakistan situation opening door for EXTREMISTS, US declares.Political uncertainty in Pakistan is fuelling a sense of chaos and opening the door for Islamist extremists intent on destabilising the country, warns a leading US analyst.

"The situation in Pakistan was already fraught with challenges for US policymakers, and the current political crisis will add one more layer of uncertainty," said Lisa Curtis, a senior research fellow in the Asian Studies Centre at the Heritage Foundation.

"Instability in Pakistan has become a major source of international concern, especially since Pakistan is one of a handful of countries that possess nuclear weapons," she said in a paper released by the Washington think tank.

"The current political turmoil will certainly distract the government from dealing with the multiple challenges facing Pakistan, including spreading Talibanisation in the North West Frontier Province (NWFP),"Curtis warned.

Even before the political crisis, the government and the military had failed to deal decisively with Taliban forces gaining ground across the semi-autonomous tribal belt bordering Afghanistan and in parts of the settled areas of the NWFP, she noted

In the Swat Valley, for example, the government recently struck a peace deal with pro-Taliban elements that had been terrorisng the locals by bombing girls' schools and viciously murdering opponents.

The Pakistan government insists that the establishment of Islamic courts in the region will not usurp state authority, but many analysts believe the situation in Swat Valley eerily resembles that in Afghanistan under harsh Taliban rule in the late 1990s.

Early reports of the Pakistan military vacating posts, while released militants roam the streets freely and demand families provide one son to the Taliban, reveal that Swat may be a terrorist safe haven in the making, Curtis said

The British government on Tuesday held consultations with representatives of the country’s Hindu and Muslim communities on how they can help in delivering its development goals in Third World countries, including India.Their recommendations would form the basis of a White Paper being prepared by the Department of International Development (Dfid) on how best its overseas aid can be used to help the most vulnerable people in developing countries. The day-long consultations held at Lambeth Palace, the London residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury, were attended by representatives from the National Council of Hindu Temples, the Hindu Council UK, the Muslim Aid and Islamic Relief.

A vicious circle of credit shortages and economic decline is blocking the way out of the global financial crisis and the slump will not bottom out before mid-2010, the No.

After going past the psychological level of 9,000 twice, the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex on Wednesday rolled back on re-emergence of profit-selling but still ended higher by nearly 113 points at 8,976.68.

In volatile trading, the key index moved between 9,120.46 and 8,951.32 points.

Bourses regained strength following a strong Wall Street rally yesterday and better trends in other Asian stocks markets. The US Dow Jones Average index gained 2.5 per cent.

Congress on Sunday organized a rally near Jama Masjid which was attended by senior leader and general secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Mohsina Kidwai, chairman of minority cell of the party, Imran Kidwai and other leaders. In her address, Mohsina Kidwai urged the Muslims to once again show the electorate that they have been with the Congress for a reason and will continue to do so even in these elections because only the Congress and their secular candidates uphold the commitment for betterment and development of Muslim community.

Congress being the largest party has given Muslims due representation both in electoral forays and also in policy making positions, she said. Sachar committee report has become the benchmark for Congress decision making and this will be fully implemented if the party is voted back to power, she said.

What are the objectives of the Third Front, asks Pranab Mukherjee!

Senior Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee today said he did not know whether the fledging Third Front had any programme.

"What are the objectives in floating this idea (of Third Front)? Government must have a vision, a programme. I do not know whether they have a programme," Mukherjee, also the external affairs minister, told reporters at the airport here when asked about the prospects of the Third Front comprising Left and regional parties.

"Those parties, which first select their prime ministerial candidates and then go for campaign are indulging in theatrics," he said.

Mukherjee, who arrived from Delhi, said whether the Third Front would come to power at the Centre would depend on the 70 crore voters of the country.

On the defensive over his anti-Muslim statements, BJP on Wednesday "dissociated" itself from and "disapproved" Varun Gandhi's allegedly
communal remarks in Pilibhit which have created a political storm.

"BJP disassociates from and disapproves of the statements attributed to him. He (Varun) has himself raised questions over the statements attributed to him and the Election Commission will deal with that," party spokesman Ravi Shanker Prasad told reporters on Wednesday.

"We have not received any notice from the Election Commission on the issue," he said.

Varun and the party had been under attack from rivals over the inflammatory statements made by the young member of the Gandhi-Nehru family in his speeches in Pilibhit

A Pakistani anti-terrorism court has extended by two days the police remand of three accused in a case related to the Mumbai attacks and remanded another suspect to judicial custody for a fortnight. Anti-terror Court judge Sakhi Mohammad Kahut remanded Lashker-e-Taiba operatives Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, Zarar Shah and Abu al-Qama to the custody of the Federal Investigation Agency for two more days during a hearing held in the high-security Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi yesterday. The judge remanded LeT activist Hamad Amin Sadiq, described by Pakistani officials as the "main operator" behind the Mumbai attacks, to judicial custody for 14 days. He will be held at Adiala Jail.

Union Home Minster P Chidambaram on Wednesday said a decision on the fate of the second edition of the Indian Premier League will be taken soon after the Ministry received feedback from the concerned state governments on the revised schedule.Desperate to get the cash-rich league on track, the IPL's top brass held a series of meetings since Monday and submitted a reworked schedule to the Home Ministry yesterday. The new schedule has now taken into account the reservations and security constraints of the states hosting the matches.

Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit has appealed to the Union Home Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram not to deny the cricket fans of the capital the pleasure of witnessing the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches.

On the other hand,Undeterred by the widespread criticism following its attack on a Mangalore pub, right wing group Sri Ram Sene has now set its sight on Goa, vowing to agitate against pub culture in that state. Challenging Goa Home Minister Ravi Naik, who had declared that the group would not be allowed to set up its unit, Sene chief Pramod Muthalik on Wednesday said he along with his volunteers would enter the coastal state to protest the pub culture existing in Goa. Sene activists had barged into a pub at Mangalore on January 24 and attacked women and others in an act of moral policing against pub culture, triggering protests from women bodies including some which launched 'pink chaddi' campaign.

Muthalik also questioned the Mangalore district administration's decision to ban his entry, alleging that "those involved in murdering Hindu leaders and workers were moving freely with no action being taken against them".

Holding that his anti-Muslim speeches amount to violation of the Model Code of Conduct, the Election Commission on Wednesday slapped notices on Varun Gandhi and BJP seeking their response by Friday, even as it ordered video tracking of his entire campaign.

"The Commission is of the opinion that the above action on your part amounts to violation of the provisions of the Model Code of Conduct," the EC said in its notice, referring to the speeches made by Gandhi in Mohalla Dalchand, Kotwali Pilibhit and Kasba Barkheda in Uttar Pradesh on March 7 and 8.

"Therefore, you are called upon to explain by 11 hours on March 20 as to why action should not be taken against you," the EC said, a day after filing a criminal case against Gandhi for his inflammatory utterances.

In its notice to BJP President, the EC said that it was of the opinion that the action of Gandhi as a member of BJP amounted to violation of Model Code of Conduct and asked it to reply by Friday as to why the party disregarded and violated the provisions of the Code.

The Commission said it has received a report of the District Election Officer, Pilibhit, yesterday stating that "you (Gandhi) have violated the Model Code of Conduct by inciting communal feeling through your speeches". A copy of the CD was sent to both Gandhi and the party.

The SP has declared candidates for 76 seats in the state, while the Congress has announced candidates for 24 seats so far. Congress leader Digvijay Singh indicated yesterday that there was little scope for any adjustment now.

The NDA is comparatively in a better situation in the Mayawati ruled state as the BJP has worked out an alliance with Ajit Singh's RLD although the saffron party's position has weakened considerably over a period of time with the Ayodhya issue gradually taking a backseat.

In Bihar, the Congress is licking its wounds inflicted by its allies and has threatened to contest as many seats as possible.

However, NDA is better placed in the Nitish Kumar-led state with JDU and BJP agreeing to fight 25 and 15 seats respectively. BJP, however, had to eat humble pie as it was forced to concede a seat to its alliance partner from the previously contested 16 seats.

What has come as a major setback to the NDA is Orissa where the Navin Patnaik led BJD, one of its oldest allies, walked out of the alliance on the eve of the polls, forcing the BJP to go it alone there.

Only neighbouring West Bengal provides a silver lining to the UPA as Congress has been able to thrash out a seat sharing formula with the Mamta Banerjee led Trinamool Congress.

However, Congress was forced to become a junior partner in the alliance with only 14 of the 42 seats being given to it in the pact.

Maharashtra, a state which sends 48 members to the Lok Sabha, the UPA allies are making claims and counter claims. While the Shiv Sena partners the BJP here and has announced an understanding after much haggling, Congress is in alliance with the Sharad Pawar-led NCP. An amicable formula is yet to be worked out in the UPA with NCP eying more seats than it contested last time.

In the southern states, the UPA alliance in Tamil Nadu is facing hiccups after MDMK crossed over to AIADMK and PMK is giving mixed signals.

Interestingly, BJP is 'friendless' in southern India, including in this state.

In Karnataka, Congress was hoping for some understanding with the JD(S). After the Deve Gowda-led party joined the Third Front, the hopes have not borne fruit so far.

Congress is keeping its fingers crossed in Jharkhand where a multi-party alliance is facing inner contradictions and demands of more seats by the alliance partners.

In the border state of Jammu and Kashmir, Congress will fight jointly with the National Conference with both parties contesting 3 seats each.

Condoms aggravate AIDS problem, Pope issues FATWA!

We brand ISLAM as TALIBANISED and abuse MUSLIMS and even the SECULAR DEMOCRATIC HINDUS as JIHADI, but we may not CHALLENGE the authority of VETICAN and the Pope!

London As the Pope embarked on his landmark visit to Africa, the pontiff courted controversy by declaring that condoms were not a solution to the AIDS epidemic but it ‘aggravates the problems’.

The Vatican encourages sexual abstinence to fight the spread of the killer disease.

81-year-old Pope Benedict told mediapersons en route to Cameroon that AIDS ‘is a tragedy that cannot be overcome by money alone, and that cannot be overcome through the distribution of condoms, which even aggravates the problems’, ‘The Times’ newspaper reported on Tuesday.
